STAFF from tax specialist firm, Qubic, will be taking on the Great North Run for North East based charity, The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, which was chosen as the firm’s nominated charity after a whole staff vote.
Sir Bobby launched his Foundation in 2008 after a request to help raise funds from his oncologist and in 2009 officially opened the Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trials Research Centre. The centre is at the forefront of research into cancer and offers patients access to early trials and potential new treatments, as well as working closely with the Imaging Research Centre to improve diagnosis and study the effects of new drugs.
This is the first year Qubic will have a team participating in The Great North Run and five members of staff will be tackling the challenge on 8 September 2019.
The members of staff participating will be Chris Mitchell, Associate Director, Peter Durance, Tax Associate, James Richardson, Finance Assistant, and Chloe May, Marketing Administration Assistant. Mungai Wairia, who provides office cleaning services to the firm will also be running on behalf of Qubic Tax.
Chris Mitchell, Associate Director at the firm, is taking on the Great North Run for the third time this year. He said: “I have taken part in the Great North Run previously, but I am looking forward to taking part alongside my colleagues this year for such a worthy cause.”
David Graham, Director, added: “The Great North Run is a fantastic event for the North East so I’m delighted that members of staff from across Qubic have decided to get involved whilst supporting such an excellent charity. The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation do such worthwhile, pioneering work and I am proud we, as a firm, are supporting that. Good luck everyone!”
