Peter Durance, Tax Associate at Qubic, will be one of the members of the firm taking on the Great North Run this year, in support of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation. Peter joined Qubic in 2016 as a Team Administrator being promoted to Tax Associate in early 2019. Peter has taken part in a half marathon once before, but is looking forward to taking part as a representative of Qubic.
Peter said, “I am delighted to be able to support such a fantastic charity in the Great North Run this year- I can’t wait to take on the challenge!”
Have you run a half marathon before?
Yes, I ran one 6 years ago to raise money for Cancer Research after a friend of mine passed away due to the illness a few months earlier.
What made you want to take part in the Great North Run?
Being from the North East it’s something I have always wanted to do, so when I was offered the chance at work I jumped at it, especially to support such a good cause.
What motivites you to train?
Not wanting to be the slowest in the office!
How is training going to date?
Training has been tough but is slowly getting easier.
What is your expected finish time?
Hopefully under 2 hours!
What made you want to run for The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation?
The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation is a great charity to raise funds for. The work that they do is hugely important in fighting cancer and supporting patients. The legacy that Sir Bobby left behind, both in the dugout and through the foundation, is well remembered and highly respected in the North East. It was a natural choice to run for the foundation in the Great North Run.
