CHRIS Mitchell, Associate Director at Qubic, will be taking part in the Great North Run as part of ‘Team Qubic’ this year. Chris has worked for Qubic for over nine years. You will often find Chris pounding the pavement during his lunch break, making the most of the scenic Newcastle Quayside (and getting that extra training in!).
Chris has taken part in the Great North Run twice previously, but this will be the first year he will be running in support of The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
Chris said, “I am delighted to be representing Qubic in the Great North Run, where we will be running in support of The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
“The Foundation does such worthwhile work and I am looking forward to pushing myself this year to hopefully achieve my best time yet, whilst raising money for this fantastic cause.”
Have you run a half marathon before?
Only the GNR but I’ve done it twice previously; in 2016 (2hrs 4mins) and 2017 (1hr 42 mins).
What made you want to take part in the Great North Run?
I wanted a chance to improve on my previous times.
What motivates you to train?
Mostly wanting to beat my previous time. It’s also a good opportunity to keep fit and a good break from the office at lunch time.
How is training going to date?
Sadly, not very well. I did too much too soon and have had to have a break from training.
What is your expected finish time?
I would like to get a time below 1 hour and 40 minutes but will definitely need to get some more miles under my belt for that to be possible.
What made you want to run for The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation?
Sir Bobby Robson was a local lad who achieved success on a global scale. The foundation is a way to continue his legacy. I have supported the charity previously and I am pleased to be able to run for them and help bring in donations to fund the fantastic work they do.
